The rapid advancement of technology has paved the way for innovative solutions in healthcare, among which telemedicine has emerged as a pivotal tool for enhancing access to public health services. Telemedicine, defined as the delivery of healthcare services via digital platforms, has gained significant attention due to its potential to bridge geographical, economic, and social barriers to healthcare. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of telemedicine in expanding public health access, focusing on its role in improving healthcare delivery, overcoming traditional barriers, and addressing gaps in healthcare equity. A qualitative literature review methodology was employed to analyze a range of scholarly articles, reports, and case studies that explore the implementation and outcomes of telemedicine programs globally. The review identified key themes related to the benefits of telemedicine, including improved access to healthcare services in underserved and rural populations, the reduction of healthcare costs, and the ability to offer timely medical consultations and interventions. Additionally, challenges such as technological barriers, regulatory issues, and patient-provider communication were also examined. The review highlights how telemedicine has proven effective in increasing healthcare access, particularly for vulnerable populations, by offering remote consultations, health monitoring, and health education. Furthermore, the study discusses the broader implications of telemedicine for public health, emphasizing its potential to complement traditional healthcare systems and promote health equity. However, the research also indicates the need for further improvements in technology infrastructure, policy frameworks, and training programs for healthcare providers to fully realize the potential of telemedicine. The findings suggest that while telemedicine is not a panacea, it represents a crucial component in expanding public health access, particularly in the context of resource-limited settings. This study concludes by recommending that healthcare systems globally integrate telemedicine as a complementary tool in their service delivery models, ensuring that the benefits of remote healthcare are accessible to all populations, regardless of their location or socioeconomic status.
